In a time where inflation and high cost of living is the defining factor of the economy, Gloria Eromonsele, Analyst Talent management, shows us that beyond managing talents at AFEX she has a pretty good hold on her personal financial management. Take a dive into how she manages her finances in this episode of Year in Money.

What’s your top money lesson in 2022?

Save! Save as much of your earnings as possible and try everything you can to avoid debts. Never allow your debts to pile nor exceed what you earn. It will come back to bite you.

What did you spend money on this year that gave you joy?

Photoshoots and new outfits. This year I paid for about 4 photoshoots (I see it as an investment into happiness). I like pictures so any opportunity to appear before a camera, I'll grab it. Photos and videos are therapeutic for me.

To make me happy, suggest going to the studio for a shoot, I’ll light up immediately. I also do not mind spending a lot on pictures.

What’s the biggest money mistake you made this year?

I try not to make money mistakes ever; I however tried the hardest this year. I learned from what happened in 2020/2021, during the rave of Forex, I tuned in though I had the slimmest idea of how it worked. I asked questions but not the right and deep-rooted ones necessary to fully understand it. It showed me shege.

Since then, I've been extra careful about how I spend money. I invest in physical goods, hence my current business.

How did you up your money game this year?

I pushed funds into my business, I have never been frivolous with money, it’s either I save or invest in my business so I can get returns. Also, I don’t spend the profit from my business, I reinvest. Put it back into the market and increase the base. I'm not a make-money-then-splurge kind of person. So, this has always worked for me.

What did you spend the most money on this year?

I said it before and I'll reclaim it now, photoshoots! and every single session was worth the penny I put into it. I'd say clothes and hairs take the next position. I mean you need to look good for your shoots.

Describe your money journey this year with a word

I'll say evolving, like my business. Taking dynamic positions and seeing what works best for my growth.
